Here is a scene of the movie based on the book The Chocolate War. In this scene, the main character refuses to sell the chocolates that he is expected to sell to raise funds for his school. I would like to see read is your reaction to this scene. Please post your comments.
The sore pProfessor explanation of the concept and difference between yes vs. no is a classic way in which some systems treat as stupid who ever opposes their commands or what they believe. For this systems is just treason to their conceptual and general points of view if you decide not to do as you are told so. Excellent presentation from the movie makers.
ResponderEliminarYes, see how the protagonist is tried to be convinced by this subtle but strong form of pressure. It shows how society pressures people into what it wishes even though...
ResponderEliminarIt shows clear contradiction. The teachers’ reaction did not follow through his initial instruction to the teenager. And what about his final comment: ‘Those who does not sell chocolates, I pity you’.&&^^%%$R!!!! The sad reality is that the situation presented through this scene in ‘The Chocolate War’ (1988) is not far from reality, in some cases. Even though I would like to think that this movie’s intention is to teach us not to reinforce, nor repeat this despaired behavior, the reality is that I continue to see it in some daily life situations and, sadly to say, in some school settings. We, as teachers, shall rise to modern times and work toward avoiding the behavior that is depicted in this movie clip. (jriomaringles)
