Here is a librarian discussing the novel The Chocolate War and the reasons it has been banned throughout the years. Very interesting talk. Afterward, tell me what you think about her discussion. Would you be interested in reading this novel? Why or why not?
The Chocolate Book is a strong book by the themes of violence and language stated ith the book's narrative. Given the fact that the plot of a young high school student battling the normative system seduces me to read it. As a teacher will have to encourage our students to think critically and defend their ideas and believes no matter what or who they are battling. So my answer to the question if I will be interested in reading this book is yes. At this present moment, where taking a stand is punished in the system is important to teach and act to defend your own believes.
ResponderEliminarYou should read it. It's a great book even though very controversial.
ResponderEliminarHaving lived in the United States for several years, I can relate to the importance Americans gives when discussing the issue of Freedom to Read in Libraries movement. The library is a place for open thoughts, and it’s a place for learning through acquiring and exchanging ideas. However, when speaking about a school library, one needs to be aware of the parameters that restrict such rights. (jriomaringles)
